Aren’t they cute? Kathrine and Kristian are beautiful together. Kathrine wanted to take some photos before Kristian’s leave for Marine bootcamp. We had a loads of fun. The location was awesome. It was an adventure.
Vintage love, I guess you can describe the photos. I’m glad to call these young lovebirds my friends. Go Marines!
*Note: I took a different approach in color and style when processing these images. I gave it more of a old west vintage feel.  Yet you would only know if you were a fan of my imagery. =)

I still don’t know what name of the railroad bridge. Does anyone? I tried to do some research but found nothing.

Underneath the Summer Sun

Under the summer sun I’m fixed on you
The summer breeze flies our doubts in the air
You gotta tell me that this must be true
Lie between the two the sky speak you care
500 miles, telephones can’t replace
Or the sun falls down and you are shining
Under the summer sun we’re face to face
Distracted, beauty left me wandering
For the heavens orbits your pretty eyes
Reminding me of my single duty
For that I would descend into the sky
Under summer sun is me you, you me
Underneath summer sun we are young
Under summer sun our love has begun

I am truly honored to be named and voted “Rebel of the Year” at San Lorenzo High. I didn’t ask for all this. However I will humbly accept this award and will continue to strive to do my best at all times because “It’s a Great Day to Be a Rebel.”

The “Rebel of the Year“  award is given to a Rebel student that have represented San Lorenzo High both on and off the athletic field with pride, dignity and sportsmanship. Some past recipients of this awards include Justin Hua, Ashley Vind and Razor De Vera. Dedication was what I was honored for.

I studdered and stumbled a lot with my words during my speech when I was up on the stage today. I apologize.  I’m still adapting to these braces. I’m all sliced up internally because of these metal wires.

Dedication can mean a lot of things. To me dedication means, to devote oneself to something with a lot of effort and time to make it better. Dedication can be a voluntary obligation, loyalty to someone or something, a personal commitment, or a pledge.

What does Dedication mean to you?

What are you dedicated to?

Why are you dedicated to that certain thing or someone?

I believe love plays essential part in our dedication. Why do I play tennis for San Lorenzo High? Why do I take pictures of San Lorenzo?  Why do I sacrifice so much of my time and effort for San Lorenzo? Why perform musically for hundreds of students? It’s because it is out of love that’s why I do what I do! It’s really hard for me to do something I don’t really love. Why are you reading my blog? (hopefully it’s because you love it)

Sometimes we need this love from friends and family as an affirmation to continue to do what we do. This love arrives in millions of  ways we can’t even comprehend. However I’ve experienced a love that is so unconditional, amazing and indescrible. Victor Hugo said, “The greatest happiness of life is the conviction that we are loved, loved for ourselves, or rather, loved in spite of ourselves” This love has cause me to share it with others through the act of giving. The ultimate expression of human kind is giving and there are thousands of way to give. Love isn’t made. Jon Foreman sung it the best in his song “Love Isn’t Made.

Love is a gift and our world is starving for love.

Make a Difference

Yesterday at school I gave blood for the first time. I donated only one pint. I could have went ALYX but was very hesitant and scared. ALYX is a machine that allows donors to give two units of red cells during one visit – providing double the impact for patients requiring the most critically needed blood types. ALYX donors must be at least 5’1” tall and weigh at least 150 pounds to donate on ALYX. Women must be at least 5’5” tall and weigh at least 175 pounds.

My appointment time was at 12:00pm but the blood drive team was  behind on time. I ended up waited for like about three hours, that’s  two TopGun Rides at Great America. While the wait I saw two students faint.  The medical team pulled out cots and wet towels and placed it there forehead.   The lady who assisted me during the questionnaire was very friendly and kind. Her name was Nancy and she has worked for Red Cross for two years. She’s about 50 years old and is studying science at Merrit College. She said I had nice veins and drawing blood would be a breeze. I am an athlete. I took it as a compliment. I met Helen later she was the one who drawn my blood. Helen was quite  humorous during the process. She loves drawing blood. She made me feel very comfortable. I told her my right arm was feel cold and tingly and she took care of me. I felt good after donating blood. I wish my blood would go overseas to developing countries.

Blood saves lives – and it is always needed. Every two seconds someone in America needs blood. The Red Cross serves as the bridge between over 4 million generous blood donors and millions of patients in need each year. The American Red Cross serves over 3,000 hospitals around the United States. We deliver a wide range of high quality blood products and blood donor and patient testing services. We bring expertise in transfusion medicine and dedication to meeting our customers’ needs.

GIVE BLOOD

To learn more about blood donation opportunities, visit www.givelife.org or
call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE (1-800-448-3543).

I Give Blood. Will you?Every minute of every day, someone needs blood. That blood can only come from a volunteer donor, a person like you who makes the choice to donate. There is no substitute for your donation.

When you make a blood donation, you join a very select group. Currently only 3 out of every 100 people in America donate blood.

From its beginning, the American Red Cross has formed a community of service, of generous, strong and decent people bound by beliefs beyond themselves. The American Red Cross blood donor embodies this principle. Please join us in our mission to maintain a safe and stable blood supply by making your appointment to donate blood today.

To find out where you can donate, visit www.givelife.org or call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE (1-800-448-3543).

What is happiness?

Happiness is just outside my window
Would it crash blowing 80-miles an hour?
Or is happiness a little more like knocking
On your door, and you just let it in?

Happiness feels a lot like sorrow
Let it be, you can it make it come or go
But you are gone- not for good but for now
Gone for now feels a lot like gone for good

Happiness is a firecracker sitting on my headboard
Happiness was never mine to hold
Careful child, light the fuse and get away
Cause happiness throws a shower of sparks

Happiness damn near destroys you
Breaks your faith to pieces on the floor
So you tell yourself, that is probably enough for now
Happiness has a violent roar

Happiness is like the old man told me
Look for it, but you’ll never find it all
But let it go, live your life and leave it
Then one day, wake up and she’ll be home

-Isaac Slade

Happiness is based on circumstances.
Contentment is eternal.

Happiness is, then, unpredictable, like a firecracker. Chase after it and it destroys you, because if you chase after things that fill the gap inside you, you aren’t chasing eternal joy. You’re chasing something that will forever change.

What is happiness to you? In what or where do you find contentment?

The Cure For Pain

IMG_3189Today, I purchase a  Darfur Button at school to help the ongoing genocide in Darfur.

Button is designed by Amanda Huynh

I did some Darfur research and also revisited one of my most inspiring musicians on myspace today. His name is Jon Foreman. Jon has been currently fasting and blogging this week about the situation in Darfur. I stumbled upon one of his blog and was deeply moved and convicted.

darfur fast blog #6, reflections

I’m been very honored and humbled to join in the ongoing fast for those in Darfur who have no choice in the matter. In our global community, we cannot turn a deaf ear to those who are suffering. Today, I’ve passed the baton to Peter Gabriel, Florida Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, and the rest of you who are fasting alongside of those in Darfur. Thank you for filling in the gap, for praying and fasting and making your voice known to the media and to Washington.

In this brave new world of interconnectivity, we need each other more than ever. For all of my information about the situation in Darfur I have relied heavily on my friends who have been there. I have truly valued the information that many folks I’ve never met have offered to me over the course of the last few days. More than ever, we are the media. The media needs you to tell them that millions of refugees in Darfur is more important to you than whether Paris Hilton does this or that. Darfur was bombed again yesterday, why is that not making headlines?

We cannot be silent on the issue… this discourse is needed. It’s a painful conversation, it’s painful to see it on the news… I think the pain is what makes us turn to celebrity gossip or our own preoccupation. But we cannot run from pain.

I overheard a conversation a few years back. I was buying a greeting card in a bookstore downtown when I heard an old Morgan Freeman looking character talking to a pretty you blond girl. He had a low musical timbre from deep in his chest and his voice was clear, “Ask a weightlifter how he got so strong, he will tell you, ‘I suffered.’ Ask a runner how he got so fast, he will tell you ‘I suffered.’ Ask my people how they got so strong, they will tell you ‘we have suffered.’ “

At this point I am staring blankly ahead at the greeting card, trying to take in every word without looking like I’m eavesdropping. The older gentleman continued talking, “Suffering is vital to growth. For the best fruit you must cut branches off of a tree. To build muscles you must break them down. Sure, this is painful but needed. And yet we fear pain, we run from it. Do not run from suffering,” he said, “Do not run from pain. Every great civilization that runs from suffering has begun it’s demise. Look as far back as you want: Babylon, Greece, Rome, or the British Empire, you’ll find that the reason for every great civilizations demise is rooted in it’s attempt to cheat pain.”

“And now,” he said, “If we’re not careful we will follow quickly down in our self-absorbed disregard towards suffering. We ignore the suffering on the street when we’re in line for an over priced coffee. We ignore the suffering overseas for a cheap pair of sneakers. We try to cheat suffering with technology, with medicine, with economic bandages. But greatness does not come from ignorance of pain. Greatness comes from wrestling with pain, wresting with the injustices of the world. You cannot cheat death. Suffering will find you. Pain will find you. Death will find you. Do not run from suffering, how else could character form?”

“Yes, suffering forms character, suffering forms patience, suffering forms perseverance, joy, grace- all these beautiful parts of a human soul that cannot come into being any other way in this life. No, no- you see suffering is not the enemy. Sure it hurts. It hurts a lot sometimes. But so does giving birth. So does playing football. So does growing up. In this life, my friend, do not run from suffering. You’ll be running from yourself.”

-Jon Foreman

I can’t even begin to fathom how much the blog challenged me. “The Cure For Pain” is one of my favorite songs by Jon and he tells us that we spend so much time trying to escape the pain, ignore the pain, pretend it’s not there… and “it will be a lie to run away.”

Dear Rebels,

Time flies, but we’ll fly farther. It has been a pleasure playing tennis all four years for San Lorenzo High. I’ve learned so much about the game and appreciate it more and more every time I step on the court. I truly believe new friendships can ignite on the court. As a senior reflecting back to freshmen year, my growth has dramatically improved, just ask Cyrus. I evolved from a quiet freshmen to senior leader. I received the utmost respect this year as a captain. Thank you Coach Cyrus, former teammates, current teammates and friends for supporting me though the thick and thin. Although I will be leaving for college next year and I will continue to strive to be the best to represent you guys.  Don’t forget what you’ve learn and always strive to improve upon what you did the day before.

Captain,

Tim

How to Install LOVE

Tech Support: Hello … how can I help you?

Customer: Well, after much consideration, I’ve decided to install
Love. Can you guide me through the process?

Tech Support: Yes. I can help you. Are you ready to proceed?

Customer: Well, I’m not very technical, but I think I’m ready. What do I do first?

Tech Support: The first step is to open your Heart. Have you
located your Heart?

Customer: Yes, but there are several other programs running now.
Is it okay to install Love while they are running?

Tech Support:
What programs are running ?

Customer: Let’s see, I have Past Hurt, Low Self-Esteem, Grudge
and Resentment running right now.

Tech Support: No problem, Love will gradually erase Past Hurt
from your current operating system. It may remain in your permanent
memory but it will no longer disrupt other programs. Love will
eventually override Low Self-Esteem with a module of its own called High
Self-Esteem. However, you have to completely turn off Grudge and
Resentment. Those programs prevent Love from being properly installed.
Can you turn those off ?

Customer: I don’t know how to turn them off. Can you tell me how?

Tech Support: With pleasure. Go to your start menu and invoke
Forgiveness. Do this as many times as necessary until Grudge and
Resentment have been completely erased.

Customer: Okay, done! Love has started installing itself. Is that
normal?

Tech Support: Yes, but remember that you have only the base
program. You need to begin connecting to other Hearts in order to get
the upgrades.

Customer:
Oops! I have an error message already. It says, “Error
- Program not run on external components.” What should I do?

Tech Support: Don’t worry. It means that the Love program is set
up to run on Internal Hearts, but has not yet been run on your Heart. In
non-technical terms, it simply means you have to Love yourself before
you can Love others.

Customer: So, what should I do?

Tech Support:
Pull down Self-Acceptance; then click on the
following files: Forgive-Self; Realize Your Worth; and Acknowledge your
Limitations.

Customer: Okay, done.

Tech Support: Now, copy them to the “My Heart” directory. The
system will overwrite any conflicting files and begin patching faulty
programming. Also, you need to delete Verbose Self-Criticism from all
directories and empty your Recycle Bin to make sure it is completely
gone and never comes back.

Customer:
Got it. Hey! My heart is filling up with new files.
Smile is playing on my monitor and Peace and Contentment are copying
themselves all over My Heart. Is this normal?

Tech Support: Sometimes. For others it takes awhile, but
eventually everything gets it at the proper time. So Love is installed
and running. One more thing before we hang up. Love is Freeware. Be sure
to give it and its various modules to everyone you meet. They will in
turn share it with others and return some cool modules back to you.

Customer: Thank you, God.
