We spent countless hours designing FCI‘s card. I love this vintage envelope concept. This card/mini envelope will travel internationally around in people’s pockets like via First Class Mail.

Here are my mini cards. Mini cards are half the size of a regular sized business card.  On the front of the card is the text and on the back is a photograph. I love it! The image quality is absolutely amazing. It’s about time I have my own mini business card. Now I’ll always have a tangible portfolio on me. Talk about a first impression for future clients. This will definitely do it.

Education is the opiate of the masses.

KTVU News Channel 2 will broadcast 5,7,10pm

Dear Students, Parents and Families of San Lorenzo High School:

Decisions are being made at the district level will greatly impact the choices your child will have high school and beyond. No other district is going through significant changes like ours.

You deserve to know the following:
-The District is changing the high school schedule and its programs without our input
-The District is using state test scores to determine your child’s access to electives
-The District is cutting teachers which will limit the academic support your receives. This will raise the student to teacher ratio.

After countless hours and months of hard work, my final duty as Historian is finally completed and published! The book is available via Blurb for purchase.  Yay! This is another accomplishment for me. Thank you Scott for sharing this wonderful resource with me. The book arrived today.

I told you guys I was going to bring change to the title “Historian.”

However this accomplishment is not enough. I am not satisfied. I yearned for not only the title “Historian” but all other titles in ASB to grow, expand and take it to the next level in the future. In life people always look down or make judgments on other people’s title or jobs. Whether you are a Administrative Assistant, Historian to Class Officier to President you are all equally important. We are one. Some positions are seen and heard more so therefore they are more appreciated or talked about. Sometimes part of it also has to do with the responsibilities and job description each position holds.

I understand some positions have more responsibilities than others. So what’s the problem? It seems that this issue is over equality? Jealously? Supply and Demand? However this issue goes much deeper than just some of those words. It’s people  and I know it’s going to take so much than hard work, time and energy to change people. I can not do it alone. In order to bring change, this requires a team, a group of people, a community or divine intervention.

I want to show people anything is possible but you have to pay the price. You can definitely bring change to not only your job but your workplace, school or home as well. Nothing is free in life. My desire to be great doesn’t not come overnight. It requires direction. Direction comes from many places in our lives. You have to search for it.

PASSION + DIRECTION = DREAM

I hope next year’s ASB will take it to the next level and be greater and better than this year’s ASB.

By photography by Tim…

Ahhh isn’t she lovely? I’ve always dreamed of having one of my photographs published for a newspaper and today- it’s real. One of my photographs from the school board meeting made front page news on the Rebel Record at San Lorenzo High. I didn’t think it would make frontpage news when I submited the photos to the journalism class. But it turns out it did. Although the photo isn’t headlining The New York Times, I am still very proud of my work.

Now, I’ll be honest with you there wasn’t much effort needed to get this on the front page. All I did was attend the highly anticipated school board meeting with a camera and did it for free. Yes, I did it for free. I wasn’t even asked to take photos. I just did it because it was an issue the public needed be aware of. Should I get paid for it? Maybe. Being selfless opens up many doors and opportunity. Trust me or listen to David Hobby.

David Hobby is a photographer and author of the Strobist.com lighting blog, a site which promotes lighting techniques — such as off-camera flash — among photographic enthusiasts, often with an emphasis on the practical knowledge rather than the gear.

Four Reasons to Consider Working for Free

1. Tenet One: Free Buys Access
2.
Tenet Two: Free Removes Boundaries
3. Tenet Three: Free Buys You Near Total Control
4. Tenet Four: Free is Powerful Karma

http://strobist.blogspot.com/2008/12/four-reasons-to-consider-working-for.html

Should all assignment photography be free? Of course not. But this is a definite start. Let’s face it people are attracted to the word “FREE.” Now I’m not calling you to do everything for free but giving up some of your freetime will definitely be something worth doing. Maybe you don’t want to be a photographer or change the world like I do. But you have smaller dreams which are just as worthy of pursuing. Giving up some of your “free“time to pursue your dreams or whatever it is will definitely be worthwhile. Everybody would like their dreams to come true. But very few are willing to pay the price for it.

Be free.

Athlete of the Week: Timmy Huynh

By : H. J. Morrison : 4/15/09

San Lorenzo’s Timmy Huynh was challenged by the wind in his match on Tuesday against San Leandro’s John Lew.

The weather made it look as though the athletes were playing with wiffle balls.

But Huynh won both matches against San Leandro’s Lew, 6-3 and 6-0.

“It changes everybody’s game,” says Huynh. “You have to play a little harder and smarter, but its OK.”

Huynh has played tennis for four years at San Lorenzo and enjoys the technique and unique skill set it demands.

He says there is much to think about when hitting the ball, like whether you want to make your opponent move around the court or stay in one area.

“It’s also the only sport that gives you contact with the ball as many as 500 times in one game,” says Huynh.

“You constantly have contact with this object that is very desireable in most other games, unlike baseball or basketball.”

I honestly didn’t see this one coming. Thank you Coach Cyrus for nominating me.

A little windy weather didn’t deter San Lorenzo from winning a 4-3 tennis match at home against San Leandro on Tuesday. The players struggled to make accurate serves and were given the run-around a bit more than usual, thanks to the gusts on the court.

The singles and doubles scores are as follows: San Leandro’s Collin Mui won 4- 6, 6-0, 6-4, against San Lorenzo’s Eric Vuong; Timmy Huynh (SLz) won 6-3, 6-0, against John Lew (SL); Doran Wong (SLz) won 7-5, 6-0, against Abdulmalek Ali; Jose Catambay (SLz) won 6-3, 4-6, 7-6, against Raymond Wu (SL).

For doubles, Mike Truong and Bobby Vuong (SLz) won 6-2 and 6-0 against Andrew Lee and Min Woo Kong (SL); Gary Luong and Kevin Lanza (SL) won 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 against Vancey Le and An Tran (SLz); Billy Chan and Kenny Lee (SL) won 3-6, 6-1, 6-2, against Kevin Cao and Jordan Hua (SLz).

It’s a great day to be a REBEL.
